We
made the cupboards look like pieces of furniture by
changing the worktop height. The low cupboard on the
left is a breakfast cupboard for the children with space
for large cereal boxes, a bread drawer and a small
drawer for jams etc. The wall cupboard above conceals
the microwave. The adjoining sideboard houses vegetable
baskets and large drawers underneath for pans etc.
The
island unit was specifically designed to house a small
fridge and breakfast bar and is the main preparation
area.

The
window seat is a favourite in this warm and
friendly kitchen but is also very practical having
a ??? cupboard and a wine rack on the other and
the seat lifts up for extra storage space. |

The
false chimney breast was designed to look as if it has
always been there, fitting comfortably around the beams.
It had to house the extractor fan and not steal any
worksurface. This is what we did.....
Under the
chimney breast we fitted the customers traditional
rangemaster cooker and built in cupboards either side
with granite worktops. Incidentally, these cupboards are
the only part of the kitchen that you couldn't take with
you! We were delighted with the end results and we know
the clients were because they told us so.... several
times!

The
Belfast Sink is housed in a separate piece of furniture
that has a large double bin built into the side cupboard
and a dishwasher in the other. The 50mm Iroko worktop
looks perfect with the traditional tap fitting and
tongue and groove paneling fitted around the
kitchen, complemented by glazed cupboards and plate rack
above.
