Vokera has recently moved its spares warehouse from Glasgow to Bradford and this has inevitably caused issues in the supply chain of these spares. This week has seen things return to normal, and all most outstanding Vokera items are now back in stock.

Heating Support, along with thousands of installers, plumbers, merchants and manufacturers have this week visited the Ricoh Arena in Coventry for Installer Live 2008 – The UK’s largest gas, heating and plumbing show.

Most of the major UK manufacturers had exhibitor stands, along with a selection of smaller manufacturer and service provider. The show also featured several forums where products were demonstrated and question & answer sessions took place.

Although there was a definate presence for renewable fuel appliances, it was refreshing to see so many of the manufacturers showcasing new and innovative tradition boiler style products. Definately the most interesting of these for me was Broag-Remeha’s revolutionary MicroCHP boiler which also generates electricity for use in the home or feeding back into the national grid. This technology is still in prototype at present but hopefully it is a sign of things to come.

We also got to see a number of products which we will be offering for sale in the near future including water conditioning equipment from Calmag and bathroom/washroom equipment from Intatec.

Other new products of interest included the first showing of the Main Unvented Cylinder which we will be stocking shortly, and the MagnaClean TwinTech from Adey Solutions, the company’s first dual-action magnetic and non-magnetic filter.

Heating Support will be closed on Monday 25th August for the Summer Bank Holiday and from Saturday 6th September, we will be open on Saturday mornings from 8am to 12noon.

This month Grant are introducing fourteen new Vortex condensing boilers and six updated models, including internal and external wall hung ranges.

Grant is moving into a whole new arena with the launch of their first ever Vortex wall hung range, comprising four internal and four external SEDBUK A rated versions in both open vented and system variants, listed under the Eco category.

The existing condensing Utility models have been split into two ranges, the Grant Vortex Pro (includes programmer option) and the competitively priced Grant Vortex Eco (excludes programmer option). The two existing Vortex Kitchen models are no longer available and now fall under the Vortex Pro range.

There are also a brand new electronic versions of the Grant Vortex Combi range available in both internal and external models.

All new and existing Grant Vortex boilers are compatible with the EZ-Fit flue systems.

Saturday 26 July saw the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Football Team take on Horncastle Town FC for the inaugural Heating Support Challenge Cup at The Wong In Horncastle.

The pre-season friendly took place with temperatures in the high twenties and was a demanding game for all involved. Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue started the strongest and built a 0-3 lead before Horncastle Town replied with two goals close together in the second half to set up a nail biting finish. Despite a much improved Horncastle Town performance, Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue scored again to clinch an exciting game, 2-4.

This year was the first time the game has been contested for a trophy and the event incorporated an opportunity to see some fire service vehicles and get fire and road safety information before the match. This is something Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue hope to develop further in future years.

Heating Support continue to sponsor the Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue Football Team who play in the English National Cup and British National Cup competitions, in both the ‘open age’ and ‘over 35’ categories.

Sunvic have been quick to identify a quality issue in the last batch of 207 XL Programmers, and have launched their new updated models – the XLS range. The 207 XLS replaces the 207 XL, and the all new 307 XLS is the first competitively priced 3 Channel Programmer on the market.

The Select 207 XLS has 7 day, 5/2 day and 24 hour programming options, with two independently time controlled channels. Designed for use with fully pumped Central Heating Systems, with option for Gravity systems, using a 3 port mid position motorised valve or two 2 port zone valves.

The superb new 307 XLS has a 7 day setting over 3 totally separate channels making it ideal to suit the Building Regulations which now require properties above 150 sq m floor space to have two individual heating zones.

I have installed a 207 XLS at home (to replace a 207 XL which has seen no issues) and it is easy to install, setup and intuitive to use. The display is large and the buttons are clearly marked and well laid out. I certainly expect this to be a big seller in the coming months and years.

OFTEC have allowed distribution through Regin of their most widely used Report Pads, the Oil Fired Installation Completion Report (CD/10) and Oil Fired Servicing and Commissioning Report (CD/11). We are now stocking the CD/10, CD/11 and TI133/D along with a wide range of other Report Pads for both Oil and Gas engineers.

Following the ongoing issues with the Riello Mectron (3007811) and RDB (3008654) Oil Pumps that were attributed to Ultra Low Sulphur content in Kerosene in certain areas in the UK, we are now stocking the updated G Pumps. The updated pumps have new Riello Part Numbers and are visually identified by a G being stamped on the face as shown in the image below.
