As supplies of the Wilo Gold 50/60 and Grundfos 15-50/15-60 domestic Pumps begin to dry up as they move exclusively to their A Rated products, the CP Range from Circulating Pumps Ltd continue to offer high quality traditional Pumps at a competitive price.

Circulating Pumps Ltd started life as Sundstrand Pumps before being acquired by the Myson Group in 1976 and is now part of the Wilo group. The CP Range are Pumps constructed of a drum motor design using hard coated shaft and bearings supporting a moulded impeller and rotor – motor cooling and bearing lubrication is carried out by the pumped water. The CP Range are used by many of the leading Boiler manufacturers including Baxi, Ideal & Potterton.

The CP53 is a suitable replacement for the Wilo Gold 50 and Grundfos UPS 15-50 and the CP63 for the Wilo Gold 60 and Grundfos UPS 15-60. We also supply the MH64 Variable Pump Head which suitable for both 5m and 6m Pumps and comes with fittings to go on most Grundfos and Myson domestic Pumps. Struggling for space? Well Firebird has the answer with the all new Enviromax Slimline Combi. At only 520mm wide it will fit in almost every retrofit oil Combi installation.

Following feedback from customers across the UK, Firebird have designed a slimmer condensing combi boiler to address the all to common problem of replacing older standard efficiency combi’s with larger condensing combi’s.

The Enviromax Slimline Combi has a slender storage tank which delivers solid hot water performance with the minimum of energy losses. Even the hot water pipes inside the boiler are insulated to ensure every last watt of energy is saved. Moreover Firebird are confident that the slimmer tank design and pipe insulation will obtain a high efficiency rating when the new European efficiency directive comes into force for oil-fired combi boilers.

Despite the limited space available, components on the Slimline Combi have been arranged to make routine service work as easy as possible. The Slimline Combi allows for multi-directional flueing which gives the installer every possible retrofit option and comes with 7-pin plug to make the task of wiring to mains power and heating controllers as simple as possible. The Enviromax Slimline Combi uses Firebird’s unique integrated heat exchanger design where the condensing heat exchanger is incorporated into the base of main boiler body. This ensures that the slightly acidic condensate is kept away from the main boiler heat exchanger and also avoids the need for a replaceable seal between the main heat exchanger and the condenser.

The Inta range of showers has been designed to give you the best of both worlds. The Inta collection offers the ultimate balance between excellent performance and the latest designs to suit every bathroom.

Now in stock is the Inta Deluge Primo bar type shower with independent control of temperature and flow, which is suitable for use with unvented supplies, combi boilers, gravity and mains pressure systems. It features thermal cartridge technology, a temperature stability of +/-2°C, fail safe on hot and cold supplies and an operating pressure range of 0.1 to 5 bar. The shower is available in chrome and comes complete with slider rail, flexible hose kit and fixing kit.

CalChem from CalMag is a three in one chemical inhibitor designed to protect central heating systems. CalChem combines a number of traditional products into one simple solution.

CalChem has a special advanced formula which begins to work upon contact with sludge, limescale, flux and other debris. The fast reacting liquid is water soluble, non-flammable and, more critically, non-acidic. This means it can be used on all types of heating systems including copper and aluminium. More importantly, CalChem is environmentally friendly.

CalChem should be added to your heating system via the filling loop or radiator. It will then break down silt, lubricate valves and pumps, suppress bacteria growth and eliminate the production of gases. CalChem also contains an anti-freeze solution which helps heating systems cope with cold weather.

Heating Support, along with thousands of installers, plumbers, merchants and manufacturers have this week visited the Ricoh Arena in Coventry for Installer Live 2008 – The UK’s largest gas, heating and plumbing show.

Most of the major UK manufacturers had exhibitor stands, along with a selection of smaller manufacturer and service provider. The show also featured several forums where products were demonstrated and question & answer sessions took place.

Although there was a definate presence for renewable fuel appliances, it was refreshing to see so many of the manufacturers showcasing new and innovative tradition boiler style products. Definately the most interesting of these for me was Broag-Remeha’s revolutionary MicroCHP boiler which also generates electricity for use in the home or feeding back into the national grid. This technology is still in prototype at present but hopefully it is a sign of things to come.

We also got to see a number of products which we will be offering for sale in the near future including water conditioning equipment from Calmag and bathroom/washroom equipment from Intatec.

Other new products of interest included the first showing of the Main Unvented Cylinder which we will be stocking shortly, and the MagnaClean TwinTech from Adey Solutions, the company’s first dual-action magnetic and non-magnetic filter.

This month Grant are introducing fourteen new Vortex condensing boilers and six updated models, including internal and external wall hung ranges.

Grant is moving into a whole new arena with the launch of their first ever Vortex wall hung range, comprising four internal and four external SEDBUK A rated versions in both open vented and system variants, listed under the Eco category.

The existing condensing Utility models have been split into two ranges, the Grant Vortex Pro (includes programmer option) and the competitively priced Grant Vortex Eco (excludes programmer option). The two existing Vortex Kitchen models are no longer available and now fall under the Vortex Pro range.

There are also a brand new electronic versions of the Grant Vortex Combi range available in both internal and external models.

All new and existing Grant Vortex boilers are compatible with the EZ-Fit flue systems.

The Sunvic Select series of Heating Controls has been our best selling range over the last 10 years. Sunvic have been quick to identify a quality issue in the last batch of 207 XL Programmers, and have launched their new updated models – the XLS range. The 207 XLS replaces the 207 XL, and the all new 307 XLS is the first competitively priced 3 Channel Programmer on the market.

The Select 207 XLS has 7 day, 5/2 day and 24 hour programming options, with two independently time controlled channels. Designed for use with fully pumped Central Heating Systems, with option for Gravity systems, using a 3 port mid position motorised valve or two 2 port zone valves.

The superb new 307 XLS has a 7 day setting over 3 totally separate channels making it ideal to suit the Building Regulations which now require properties above 150 sq m floor space to have two individual heating zones.

I have installed a 207 XLS at home (to replace a 207 XL which has seen no issues) and it is easy to install, setup and intuitive to use. The display is large and the buttons are clearly marked and well laid out. I certainly expect this to be a big seller in the coming months and years.

Over the last few months we have introduced a new range of Heating Controls from Salus Controls, a company who’s products are centred on the basic philosophy of simplicity, expertise and value.

Without doubt the number one Controls product from the last year or two is the Radio Frequency (RF) Room Thermostat in both the regular and programmable versions. Although a number of manufacturers supply RF Controls, traditionally they have been expensive, overly complex or unatractive (some all three of these things!).

We were already impressed with the appearance of all the units (who doesn’t like a blue backlight!), but after hearing positive feedback from a regular customer, and then getting confirmation of the competitive prices, it was an easy decision to put a number of the products onto stock for a trial period.

In the first month we had sold over 20 RF Thermostats and the universal feedback we were hearing was not only are they straight forward to install, but easy to programme and simple enough for the end customer to use. This coupled with the aesthetically pleasing design and 2 year warranty was enough for us to introduce the Salus range full time onto our stock profile.

In addition to RF and Wired Thermostats, Salus also offer a range of Programmers, Timeswitches, Radiator Valves, Motorised Valves and more. Selected products from the Salus range are available from us now.
